Entanglement entropy in quantum spin chains with finite range interaction ∗

چکیده
We study the entropy of entanglement of the ground state in a wide family of one-dimensional quantum spin chains whose interaction is of finite range and translation invariant. Such systems can be thought of as generalizations of the XY model. The chain is divided in two parts: one containing the first consecutive L spins; the second the remaining ones. In this setting the entropy of entanglement is the von Neumann entropy of either part. At the core of our computation is the explicit evaluation of the leading order term as L → ∞ of the determinant of a block-Toeplitz matrix with symbol Φ(z) = iλ g(z) g −1 (z) iλ , where g(z) is the square root of a rational function and g(1/z) = g −1 (z). The asymptotics of such determinant is computed in terms of multi-dimensional theta-functions associated to a hyperelliptic curve L of genus g ≥ 1, which enter into the solution of a Riemann-Hilbert problem. Phase transitions for these systems are characterized by the branch points of L approaching the unit circle. In these circumstances the entropy diverges logarithmically. We also recover, as particular cases, the formulae for the entropy discovered by Jin and Korepin [14] for the XX model and Its, Jin and Korepin [12, 13] for the XY model.

Quantum Discord and Information Deficit in Spin Chains
We examine the behavior of quantum correlations of spin pairs in a finite anisotropic XY spin chain immersed in a transverse magnetic field, through the analysis of the quantum discord and the conventional and quadratic one-way information deficits. We first provide a brief review of these measures, showing that the last ones can be obtained as particular cases of a generalized information defi...

Because the key issue in quantum information and quantum computing is entanglement, the investigation of the effects of environment, as a source of quantum dissipation, and interaction between environment and system on entanglement and quantum phase transition is important. In this paper, we consider two-qubit system in the anisotropic Heisenberg XXZ model with the Dzyaloshinskii-moriya inter...
متن کاملEntangled Markov Chains generated by Symmetric Channels
Abstract: A notion of entangled Markov chain was introduced by Accardi and Fidaleo in the context of quantum random walk. They proved that, in the finite dimensional case, the corresponding states have vanishing entropy density, but they did not prove that they are entangled. In the present note this entropy result is extended to the infinite dimensional case under the assumption of finite spee...
متن کاملCoherent Control of Quantum Entropy via Quantum Interference in a Four-Level Atomic System
The time evaluation of quantum entropy in a four-level double- type atomic system is theoretically investigated. Quantum entanglement of the atom and its spontaneous emission fields is then discussed via quantum entropy. It is found that the degree of entanglement can be increased by the quantum interference induced by spontaneous emission. The phase dependence of the atom-field entanglement is...
متن کاملBlack Hole Entropy and Entropy of Entanglement
We compare the one-loop corrections to the entropy of a black hole, from quantum fields of spin zero, one-half, and one, to the entropy of entanglement of the fields. For fields of spin zero and one-half the black hole entropy is identical to the entropy of entanglement. For spin one the two entropies differ by a contact interaction with the horizon which appears in the black hole entropy but n...
